3 Favorite Muffuletta Spots in New Orleans

The next time you're in New Orleans, consider trying a muffuletta from one of these great restaurants. Of course, these are not the only places you can find muffulettas in NOLA.

You'd have to look pretty hard to find bad food anywhere in the city, so feel free to order one of these delicious sandwiches anywhere you find yourself eating lunch or dinner.

1. Café Maspero

Located at 601 Decatur Street in the French Quarter, Café Maspero is a casual dining sit down restaurant that is a favorite with locals and tourists alike. The menu features a wide variety of items, including from giant seafood platters, po boy sandwiches, jambalaya, and much more.

The muffulettas at Café Maspero are served hot and piled high with meat and served with French fries, and are among the best you'll find anywhere. Make sure to take cash when you visit this restaurant, as credit cards are not accepted. Prices are very affordable.

2. Central Grocery

Central Grocery is located at 923 Decatur Street, just a few blocks away from Café Maspero. This small shop is a specialty grocery store that just happens to sell some of the best muffulettas you'll find anywhere in the world.

These delicious sandwiches are served cold, wrapped in paper from a walk up counter. There are a few spots in the back of the store where you can sit and enjoy your meal, or you can place a to-go order. Central Grocery closes at 5 pm, so plan to go for lunch or an early dinner.

3. DiMartino's Muffulettas

If you find yourself on the West Bank of New Orleans, stop by one of the three DiMartino's Muffulettas locations when you are ready to eat. This great casual restaurant has outstanding muffulettas, as well as many other delicious sandwiches and Creole specialties.

If you have a friend with you, consider spitting a muffuletta and one of DiMartino's fabulous roast beef and gravy Poor Boy sandwiches. Yum!

There is a DiMartino's located at 3900 General DeGaulle in Algiers, 1788 Carol Sue Avenue in Terrytown, and 6641 West Bank Expressway in Marrero.
